Caring for International Learners – The Education Code of Practice
When students come to New Zealand to study as international learners, Botany Downs Primary School has a responsibility to ensure that the students are well informed, safe and properly cared for. In New Zealand, we call this ‘pastoral care’. Students are entitled to be treated fairly, at all ages and at all levels of education. To support this, the New Zealand Government has developed the Education (Pastoral Care of International Learners) Code of Practice. Botany Downs Primary School is a signatory to the Code. The Code of Practice is available in English as well as many other languages. Please click on the image below and scroll down the page until you find your preferred language.
It is important to us that your child is happy at school. Please let us know by discussing any concerns with classroom teachers, our International Learner Coordinator, or the Principal.
