We use “SOLO Taxonomy” in our classrooms. SOLO
stands for Structured Overview of Learning Outcomes, and, in simple terms, is a process designed to help students achieve deeper thinking. The children are being encouraged through the five stages or levels of Solo – to state where they are at with their thinking, and what to do next to achieve a more advanced level of thinking.
We’ve introduced “Solo” as a way in which we can encourage children to organise their thoughts independently, and take responsibility for their learning by working towards the top level of ordering and creating new ideas.
